For an authentic French bistro experience, look no further than to Le Diplomate. The ambiance is one of a bustling Parisian brasserie- complete with being set in a historic building and offering an expansive outdoor area for all-day people watching, just as the Parisians do. In sticking to their roots, the menus offer a refined take on quintessential French mainstays. 

Stop in for a classic Pain au Chocolat, made fresh daily by the in-house pastry chef, or if enjoying brunch, the Gruyère Omelette is arguably the finest omelette in the city. However, regardless of which meal you might be having, nothing tops the wildly popular Warm Shrimp Salad- a surprisingly simple recipe that has become a permanent fixture on the menu, and is an absolute must-try.

 

 

Nestled in the heart of 14th Street, Jane Jane is the latest addition to D.C.'s celebrated mixology scene. The intimate and welcoming establishment is the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks, cocktails with friends, or a post-dinner nightcap. With a menu offering all the classics along with speciality cocktails developed in-house, and a selection of seasonal drinks, there is sure to be something for every tastebud.

 

In addition to the 32 seats inside, they offer a limited number of seats in their outdoor area as well. A few nostalgic snacky options (pigs in a blanket, anyone?) round out the thoughtfully curated menu of this new local favorite. 

 

 

With eclectic furnishings and cozy atmosphere, the owners of Compass Rose set out to create an international experience for their diners- transporting them to exotic locales without having to leave the comfort of their own homes. The globetrotting duo wanted to create a menu that was a fine tribute to all the best dishes from across their worldly travels. 

For a truly intercontinental experience, order the Tour of the World, a seven-course prix fixe tasting menu representing seven different countries. Meals can be enjoyed in a variety of spaces- from the Bedouin Tent to La Cabaña, there is no shortage of ways to create a unique dining experience.

In addition to serving creative coffee drinks, like their delicious Panda Latte, they also offer appetizing breakfast and lunch options, along with brunch on the weekends and a selection of housemade pastries to enjoy on the go (the Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie is not to be missed!).

Celebrating 25 years in business, Miss Pixie’s Furnishings & Whatnot is unlike any other vintage store in the city. Right on 14th Street, their sizable space is bright and cheery and full of fun and unique pieces. You can find everything from a small piece of decor to add some personality with, to a large piece of furniture to design your whole room around.
